Richard Hocutt is a 30 year entertainment industry veteran. He was deeply involved in independent music distribution, promotion and marketing of various genres of music throughout the 80's and 90's working with artists such as George Thorogood, Tone-Loc, Run-DMC, Naughty By Nature, NWA, House of Pain, EPMD, Digital Underground, Sublime, Eric B & Rakim, Coolio, Hieroglyphics, and De la Soul. From 1984-2004, he was COO of California Record Distributors, Inc., Executive Vice President and General Manager of the West Coast branch of Independent National Distributors Inc. (INDI - the first international Independent Music Distributor), and founder of start-up national underground urban music distributor and label Ground Level Distribution, LLC. Richard has continued to advise music artists and labels as an independent consultant, and manages a catalog of masters and music publishing. In 2004 Richard began working with director Mark Landre Gould, and they subsequently formed Directional Entertainment, LLC in 2006. In addition to crafting documentaries, music videos and industrial content, Richard also produced, directed and edited over 50 episodes of the TV show "Education A Higher Calling" for the TBN network, and in 2016, Richard produced, edited and served as the music supervisor for "Gone Are the Days", a western period drama starring Lance Henriksen, Danny Trejo and Tom Berenger. Richard is writing/producing three feature length film projects; a Mahalia Jackson biopic in conjunction with Flavor Unit, Tigereye Films, and Releve Entertainment; , an action thriller "Red Sea Journal", a co-production with Brad Cummings (The Shack); and "American Dreamer", a drama centered on DACA and the human effects of the current immigration crisis in the US . Richard is also the co-creator, along with director Mark Gould, of "BlackBall", a cable period drama TV series centered around the Black experience immediately following WWII, and "Daddy's Little Girl", a contemporary true crime horror/thriller cable TV series.
