Payam Fazli was born in 1982 to a Persian family in southern Iran, Ahvaz. His father was an oil engineer and his mother was a teacher. He soon began taking Piano lessons at the age 7 and later on learned Spanish Guitar as well as a traditional Persian sitar known as "Seh-Tar'. Upon completion of a local degree in music at the age 14, he took some acting classes. However, his life took a turn towards further education and he went through doing several degrees in veterinary medicine and later on in English Language Translation Studies in major universities in Iran as well as finishing other courses in management and journalism. During this time and afterwards, despite working as a university lecturer and a CEO, he also participated in voluntary work related to plays and short movies produced by students in universities. From the time of receiving the first offer until he was selected for his first movie, The Dream of Water, it took him nearly 11 years to wait for the right role and scenario. Payam has worked as an IELTS Examiner for more than 3 years and he has native fluency in spoken and written English and Farsi (Persian) as well as working knowledge of formal Arabic. In 2013 he started working as a university lecturer in department of English language and Translation in one of prominent universities in Iran. In September 2017, he became an Australian permanent resident as a skilled migrant. He was nominated by the state of Victoria as a NAATI (National Authority for Australian Translators and Interpreters) accredited Professional Interpreter (English to Persian or Farsi) and moved to Melbourne. He settled and started living in Melbourne a few weeks afterwards.
