Aileen Stanley was born in 1893 She was a singer who started performing in vaudeville in the teens of the 20th century.she made her first recordings for the Edison Company on August 12th 1920 My little bimbo down on the bamboo isle Edison Diamond disc 50707 which was also issued on Edison Blue;Amberol Cylinder record 4147 Her last Edison recording was Boo-hoo-Hoo Edison Diamond Disc 50919 also issued on Edison Cylinder 4487 Recorded December 8th 1921 after which she started recording for the Victor company In 1922 Victor teamed her with veteran recording artist Billy Murray 1877 - 1954 who first recorded in 1897 .Murray's singing partner Ada Jones 1873-1922 had just passed away . the team of Stanley and Murray were very popular and their Victor recordings sold very well.. They recorded for the Victor Company into the late 1920 s .When her contract with Victor ended she made some recordings for the Brunswick Company .She appeared several films when sound films came in.and continued to perform on stage into the 1930 s She died in 1982 .Some of her best recordings were Victor 18855 Boo-Hoo-Hoo / In My Heart On My Mind All Day Long Victor 20065 Any Ice To-Day Lady ? / Whadda You Say We Get Together and Victor 20822 I'm Gonna Dance Wit De Guy What Brung Me / I walked Back From The Buggy Ride With Billy Murray .On the latter side she sings with Johnny Marvin known as the Ukulele Ace.Miss Stanley was a very talented performer.
