Srijon Bardhan was born to Mr. Pradip Kumar Bardhan and Mrs. Debasri Bardhan on 13th August, 1989. He spent his first few years of childhood at Sitarampur, a small township just off the Asansol-Dhanbad stretch of the Grand Trunk Road, where his father was transferred on service. He had keen interest in reading books, listening to songs and watching movies and other creative things since he could remember. There at the early age of about four years he found out his love and passion for music and declared to his parents that he wishes to learn singing. After coming back to Kolkata, his schooling in music started and he learnt singing. At a very young age he received distinction in vocal performance both in theory and practical. He was trained in Rabindra Sangeet, Indian Classical Music and Folk music. He also learned acting, drama and theatre for a period during the primary period of school at Children's Little Theatre (Aban Mahal), Kolkata. Later due to conventional educational and peer pressure his musical journey was kept on a hold for some years. During these years of secondary schooling, he was gifted an old Kodak Kroma 35 camera to use by his parents. Srijon saw a whole new world through it and was mesmerized by the idea of immortalizing moments by just a click. He quickly accustomed himself to different shots, technique and the use of light. Soon everyone around him noticed his out of the way sense of photography. He also started learning editing, coloring and composing pictures all by himself. After passing his boards his parents bought a handy-cam. And that was his doorway to cinema! Enthralled by the ability to capture motion Srijon quickly learnt the basics of video editing and sound mixing using amateur software and started making his own short films. Back then they were mostly about the holiday trips their family used to make. He would video record each trip and edit and color them uniquely for the viewing of his relatives and friends. His talent in this craft was surfacing slowly but still his parents were much in to the dark as they were not exactly looking for such talents. Even he himself was unsure about his forte. After high school Srijon joined Future Institute of Engineering and Management to study Mechanical Engineering. There in college he had a radical change in personality and decided to continue learning music, but this time he was more interested in western music education. He studied western music in both theory and practical (Guitar) from Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and London College of Music respectively and received Distinction and Gold Medal. Simultaneously he kept his love for films alive and realized that cinema is the only creative platform where he can put all his passions into use. He soon scripted, produced and directed two short films consecutively, both of which were screened at Kolkata International Film Festival and other competitions and film festivals thereafter. On graduating as a Mechanical Engineer in the year 2012, Srijon declined the job he go from campus as he had set his aim straight by that time. He made film-making his complete goal. He joined a boiler firm as a marketing executive which helped him later to shift to advertising. For the next 2 years apart from meeting people from the industry and networking profusely, he penned down the plot and script of the story of "Postmaster" which germinated in his mind since school days. He shared his idea with his father who loved the story and was the first person to believe him to produce his debut feature. His entire family, friends and relatives had tremendous faith on him and supported him no matter what. On 2013 he made the music of the film and left his job in an advertising firm to devote completely in pre-production. And after years of dreaming, hard work and determination he has finally finished what he started making- "Postmaster".
