Born on 16 June 1987 in Samokov, Bulgaria, Krasimir Anev is a professional biathlete. He became the junior European biathlon champion in 2007 in the 20 km Individual event, which is type of race is his specialty. His first year in biathlon is 1997 and his World Cup debut occurred in 2004. Well known for his ambition and determination, Anev quickly started to earn points in the overall ranking. He managed to finish the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 season in the Top 30. His most impressive finish was 4th in the 15 km mass start race in Oberhof, Germany where only 2 seconds robbed him of the bronze medal, which went to Dmitry Malyshko of Russia. The mass start is the most prestigious biathlon discipline because it selects the Top 30 biathletes from the overall ranking. Anev made history being the first Bulgarian biathlete to take part in the event. Anev participated in two Olympic Games - the 2010 in Vancouver and the 2014 in Sochi. He placed 25th in the sprint, 45th in the pursuit, 25th in the Individual and 16th in the relay in Vancouver in 2010. As for his performance in 2014 in Sochi, Anev finished 48th in both sprint and pursuit events, 35th in the Individual and 15th in the relay. During the 2010-2011 season he took the silver medal in the 12.5 km pursuit at the European Championship in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna, Italy. A few days later he won a bronze medal in the 20 km Individual. Back in the World Cup, Anev landed the 12th place in the 10 km sprint in Hochfilzen, Austria. He traveled to Erzurum, Turkey to participate in the Universiade that took place there. Anev won 3 medals - 2 silver in the 20 km Individual and the 15 km mass start and a bronze alongside his compatriot Emilia Yordanova in the mixed relay event. The 2011-2012 season is signed with a 12th place in the sprint in Oberhof, Gemany. The first race for the 2012-2013 season begins with a 20 km Individual event in Östersund, Sweden, where Anev placed 8th. He finished 7th in the 12.5 km pursuit in Antholz-Anterselva during the 2013-2014 season. In 2015 during the European Championships in Otepää, Estonia, Krasimir Anev took the silver in the 12,5 km pursuit. Instead of taking part in he races from the World Cup schedule in Canmore, Canada and Presque Isle, Maine, USA in February 2016, Anev participated in the European Championships in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia. He won a silver medal with one minute penalty and a finish time of 50:09.3 in his favorite discipline - the 20 km Individual race. Krasimir Anev continues to impress his growing fan club with his accurate shooting and good skiing.
