Born on 19 March 1987 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, the charming Dmitry Malyshko is a professional biathlete. His first year in the sport was 1997 and he made his World Cup debut on 9 December 2011. Malyshko's star rose during the 2012-2013 season. Before that he had one 3rd place in the pursuit in Kontiolahti at the end of the 2011-2012 season. He achieved his first and so far only two World Cup victories. On 5 January 2013 the Russian biathlete won the 10 km sprint in Oberhof. The following day, 6 January he won the 12.5 km pursuit. The next week, Malyshko was again on the podium for his 2nd place in the mass start in Ruhpolding. He also finished 2nd in the pursuit in Hochfilzen. At the end of the season, Malyshko achieved his best overall position during his career - 8th place. At the 2013 World Championships in Nove Mesto, he finished 5th in the sprint, 4th in the pursuit and relay and 15th in the mass start. During the whole 2013-2014 season, Malyshko has been 4th three times - in the sprints in Pokljuka and Kontiolahti and in the pursuit in Pokljuka. This was an Olympic year and the Games applied much pressure on the Russian athletes in all Winter sports because the event took place in Sochi. Dmitry Malyshko competed in all biathlon disciplines. Alongside his teammates, the Russian men's relay won the gold medal. In the other disciplines he placed 28th in the sprint, 33rd in the pursuit and 20th in the mass start. The season concluded for him at 11th place in the overall. The World Championships in Kontiolahti in 2015 were a complete disappointment. He finished 34th in the sprint, 47th in the pursuit, didn't compete in the Individual and the mass start and 4th in the relay. This unexpected drop in his form got worse. During the 2016 World Championships, Malyshko participated only in one event - the 20 km Individual where he placed 64th. This is a scandalous position for biathlete of his rank. In the overall he came at 39th place. Dmitry Malyshko welcomed his first child, a son named Philip with his partner Yekaterina Tikhonova in 2015.
