Reid Carpenter was born in Santa Barbara, California and raised in Oceanside, the home of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. His father was a career police officer and his mother a homemaker; Reid has 1 brother and 3 sisters. Reid first served in the United States Marine Corps, then later the United States Army National Guard. Reid is a highly decorated combat veteran and while in the Army, served as an Infantry Fire Team Leader. During Operation Iraqi Freedom he was the Lead Scout Machine Gunner. Reid served his country from 1998 until 2014 when a combat injury forced his early retirement. Concurrent with his military service, Reid was a law enforcement veteran where his specialty was criminal investigations.
