Leslie Combemale

Leslie Combemale is the owner of ArtInsights Gallery of Film and Contemporary Art, a film critic, and a producer of panels expanding awareness about women in film and the history of animation and illustration art. Starting a career in 1988 working at one of the first five galleries specializing in animation art, she opened ArtInsights in 1994 as co-owner. She began representing the art of illustrator John Alvin in 2005, becoming the sole gallery representation for his estate when he died in 2008. She began writing as Cinema Siren in 2003, and is now a member of the Washington Area Film Critics Association and the Alliance of Women Film Journalists. She has promoted the art of film and below-the-line artists with panels about the art of Harry Potter, traditional animation, women in animation, and female filmmakers, with her panel Women Rocking Hollywood at San Diego Comic-Con. She is a known expert on the history and artistry of film and animation art, and has lectured and been featured in a number of shows and documentaries on the subject.
