Clarissa Itschert was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, where she lived up until the age of five. Both her parents are German, but she grew up only partly in Germany. From ages 8-12, she played at a local theater club in Bonn, Germany, and discovered her passion for acting. When she moved to Bulgaria at age 12, she started making her own short films, notably a commercial that would be shown in a few cinemas in Vienna. Two years before graduation, after having spent a few months in Selestat, France, she changed schools again and then graduated from the French Lycée in Sofia at age 17. During her time in Bulgaria, she had her first voice-over job doing German voice overs for tourist clips about Bulgaria. After graduating, she spent four months in Spain, Málaga and Madrid, attending full-time Spanish lessons. But even after moving away she would occasionally return to Bulgaria in order to attend acting workshops such as AMAW with Anthony Meindl and Mitchell Mullen at the Nu Boyana Film Studios in Sofia. In 2015, she moved back to Germany where she enrolled at an online university in Berlin in order to be flexible. She volunteered at a cinema production and that same year met Priscilla Wittman with whom she started making short films. In 2017, she returned to Bulgaria once more to attend the Actors Military Skills Course, also organized by the Nu Boyana Film Studios.
