Dounya Boughelous Righi was born in a communist neighbourhood in Paris, France. She grew up travelling around Europe by herself. She followed a prestigious education in Paris. At a young age, she moved to London with 32EUR in her pocket and "Les Fleurs du Mal" in her backpack, with one dream, to make it in the movie industry. Later on, she moved to Hollywood to finish her film education and be close to her favorite movie directors.
