Claudia S. Murray is an award-winning writer, director, and documentary producer. She is a featured director in NALIP's "Latinx Directors You Should Know" series. She took an unconventional career path into film, including a background in constitutional law and political speechwriting. But she gave that all up to pursue her greatest passion: comedy writing. Claudia got her start in film by creating social impact campaigns for documentaries by day and performing standup comedy by night. During that time she co-wrote and directed her first film, the Moving Picture Institute Original Short Gringa. The dramedy short is loosely based on her own experiences growing up in a multigenerational, bilingual family. The film stars Lidia Porto (Epix's Get Shorty) and Ruben Rabasa (Netflix's I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson) as the grandmother and grandfather, respectively. Gringa screened at dozens of festivals and won many audience and jury awards, including Best Director at the UCLAx Film Festival. Today, Claudia develops and produces narrative and documentary content for film, TV, and the web.
