Akeem Mignott is a Jamaican actor who has steadily been building his acting career over the past 13 years. A past student of Goldsmith University of London and Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. Akeem is the founder and Artistic director of Trapix Theatre Company. Mignott has acted in numerous commercial productions(plays) including Aston Cooke's "Jamaica Fifty 2 Rhatid", "Single Entry", "Right Girl Wrong Address" and "Back A Yaad" and films Hang em High, Ghetta Life, TVJ's Real Friends, Master Minds and Shebada in Charge . He was also featured in several music videos such as Pitbill and Steven Marley's "Options" and Ikaya's "Ugly Girl" Mignott has also represented Jamaica regionally at The Caribbean Schools Drama Festival and internationally at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Scotland as well as at the Atlanta International Schools's ISTA festival. Akeem copped the award for Best Director for the Jamaica Youth Theatre production "Wi Love Wiself" which took home 11 major awards at the Caribbean School's Drama Festival. Having had the privilege of working with veteran actors such as Leonie Forbes and Oliver Samuels. He holds a Masters degree in Applied Theatre and a Bachelors in Drama Education. Akeem wants to see more opportunities created for young actors. He says a partnership between the two will promote the sustainability of the Jamaican culture. This fast-rising talent is passionate about the Jamaican culture and strongly believes in its power to promote self identity. He hopes to see in the next 5 years more Jamaican plays that showcase the good and positive side of the country. . Chevening Scholar 2019 .
