Kat Best

Kat Best was raised in Cambridge, UK, having moved to Portugal in her early teenage years where she attended St. Julian's International School in Lisbon. Coming from a family of Doctors and University Professors, she felt pressured to pursue a career that kept to those standards. This led her to attend Law School at the Catholic University of Lisbon. She completed two years at the top of her class before the urge to pursue her lifelong passion for storytelling became too strong to ignore. Best went on to complete a BA in Film, TV & Multimedia Communications, majoring in Directing and Producing at the Lusophone University of Lisbon. Her talent was quickly recognized, and her career took off when the first film she directed and produced won the category of Best Film at the RC Barcelona Awards in 2010. Horseback riding filled most of her recreational time growing up, and she went on to successfully compete on an international level in show jumping for over ten years. While she still owns horses, she decided to put her athletic career on hold in 2017 to focus on the expansion of her production company and professional career. Best is also a published writer. One of her short stories, "The Allegory of the Well" was adapted to the theatre in 2014 by Judith Ross McNabb in Wakefield, RI. She is very passionate when it comes to animals, remaining actively involved with non-profit organizations that help stray and abandoned dogs. Part of her company's profits are put towards the founding of an animal sanctuary at her family's estate. Now spending her time between Europe and the US, she still finds the time to write and study other areas of her interest, which include Buddhist and Taoist teachings, quantum physics, and art history.
