Michael Rösch was born on 4 May 1983 in Pirna, Germany. He is a professional biathlete who competes for Belgium since 2014. His first year in biathlon was 1991 and his coach back then was Frank Ullrich. Michi Rösch has an incredible skill with the shooting from the prone position. His success percentages were always around 90% throughout his entire career. He has been very promising biathlete from the beginning. Rösch was junior world champion four times. He won 4 gold medals - in the sprint in 2003 and the others with the relay. The 2005-2006 season his star began to shine on the World Cup tour. He won his first victory in the 12.5 km pursuit in Ruhpolding and was 3rd two times - in the Individual and pursuit in Brezno-Osrblie. That qualified him to participate at his first Winter Olympic Games. So he joined the team to represent Germany in 2006 in Turin. Rösch won a gold medal in the relay alongside his teammates Ricco Groß, Sven Fischer and Michael Greis. In the other disciplines placed 42nd in the 20 km Individual and 10th in the mass start. The season ended with lots of joy at the prestigious 5th position in the overall. The next season 2006-2007, Michael Rösch made his second World Cup victory in the 10 km sprint in Khanty-Mansyisk and at the World Championships in Pokljuka finished 4th in the relay. He didn't race in any other events. The season ended at number 11 in the overall. In 2007-2008 season, Rösch came 2nd in the sprint, 4th in the pursuit in Pyeongchang and 5th in the mass start in Holmenkollen. At the 2007 World Championships in Antholz-Anterselva he won a bronze medal with the relay. Placed 18th in the sprint, 10th in the pursuit and 23rd in the mass start. Rösch concluded the season again at 11th position. From the 2008 World Championships in Ostersund, he won a bronze medal in the relay, was 25th in the Individual, 5th in the sprint, 7th in the pursuit and 28th in the mass start. During the 2009 World Championships, the German relay team repeated their success from the previous year, the relay team won the bronze medal again. As for the performance in the other disciplines, Rösch came 18th in the Individual, 14th in the sprint, 9th in the pursuit and 5th in the mass start. During the entire season of 2008-2009 on the World Cup tour, he did good in the sprint in Oberhof. Came 2nd. After that Rösch disappeared from the team as well from the World Cup itself. He didn't participate in 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, nor 4 years later the ones in Sochi. He wasn't in the World Cup tour until the 2015 World Championships in Kontiolahti. From then Rösch was competing for Belgium, not for Germany. He finished 13th in the Individual, 21st in the sprint, 23rd in the pursuit and 26th in the mass start. Rösch didn't do so well at the next World Championships in 2016 in Holmenkollen. He placed 45th in the Individual and 80th in the sprint. Michael Rösch was very successful at the Summer World Championships in 2009 in Oberhof. Then he was still competing for his homeland and won 3 medals - two gold in the pursuit and relay and one silver in the sprint. Five years he was already competing for Belgium. But won 2 medals from the 2014 Summer World Championships in Tyumen - one gold in the pursuit and one silver in the sprint.
