Michael Robert Southworth was born and raised in Boston. He attended the Noble & Greenough School where he acted in several of the school's theater productions and regularly performed with his band. In 2014, Michael enrolled at Cornell University where he studied acting and film. While at Cornell he worked on over two dozen plays and short films. He received extensive acting training from industry professionals such as Dr. David M. Feldshuh, Dr. Bruce Levitt and Carolyn Goelzer, and is classically trained in the Stanislavski Method, Shakespeare, the Chekhov Technique and contemporary drama. By the time of his graduation in 2018, Michael had appeared in "Patriot's Day" (2016), "Same Kind of Different as Me" (2017), and "Sweeney Killing Sweeney" (2018). In 2019 he received his first leading role in a feature, playing Sgt. John Reese in the Vietnam War epic "Love in Country" (2019). Additionally, Michael is a writer, director and musician. He wrote "The Life of Riley," a feature length screenplay that served as his honors thesis at Cornell, and has also directed several productions including "Another Way" (2017). He is an avid guitarist and tenor vocalist, and writes music in his spare time.
