Anastacia Hopkins is the eldest daughter of Carol and Randy Hopkins. Born in Brampton Ontario, Anastacia spent her first 8 years in the Southern Ontario/GTA area. Just after her 8th birthday her family moved to the Port aux Port Peninsula on the west coast of Newfoundland. It was a few years later that Anastacia was bit by the acting bug, this interest in performing blossomed under the encouragement of her Literature teacher who told her that she had a natural talent. That summer Anastacia's mother sent her to a theatre camp in nearby town of Stephenville. As part of the camp, Anastacia was able to take part as an actor in the professional summer theatre festival and was enthralled with the process of putting off several shows in 1 day. It was also the first time she shared the stage with Canadian and Newfoundland icon Gordon Pinsent-an honor which she would repeat in 2003. Mr. Pinsent was kind enough to give a talk to the camp participants and his words are ones which she can still quote today. After this camp experience Anastacia started to get serious about her craft. She took part in the annual Rotary Music Festival, under the monologue division, placing first in 2 of the 3 years in which she participated. The most notable being her performance of the "Letter" scene from Macbeth. Her Scottish accent was so convincing that the adjudicator had to request her to speak to determine if it was skill or just her own accent being used. Throughout high school Anastacia took part in theatre productions which were part of the province's drama festivals. Once again Anastacia was commended by the adjudicators for her ability to do accents in a play that went past the regional level and into the provincials. Her drama teacher was impressed with Anastacia and two other classmates whom she would invite to take part in the adult provincial drama competition. It was during this phase that Anastacia learned new skills as both an assistant stage manager (ASM) and stage manager(SM).This in turn lead Anastacia to become the youngest ASM for a main stage production for the professional summer theatre festival and her first lead role as Princess Elizabeth in The Paper Bag Princess. After graduating high school Anastacia went on to study at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in their theatre program. She successfully completed 3 of the 4 years of the classical theatre program before having to drop out due to illness. In the late summer of 2003 Anastacia moved back to Ontario where she continued to work in local theatre works and earned her first television role. After 6 years of not being happy Anastacia returned to her beloved Newfoundland. Again she took part in local theatre productions but wanting more she headed to the islands capital city,St. John's. There she has worked in theatre and began to forge her skill sets in the vibrant film industry.
