Anna-Mai had a late but inspired start to acting, first training at the age of 35 at the National Theatre Drama School followed by NIDA Melbourne and 16th Street Actors Studio. She has experience acting in many different styles including Meisner, PEM, Method, Mike Alfred's Technique, Stella Adler, Chubbuck, Uta Hagen which makes her very skilled and adaptable when working with different directors. In October of 2016 she was lucky enough to train in New York where she attended classes at Susan Batson Studio in Manhattan. Most recently Anna-Mai participated with great success in a 4 day acting workshop with highly acclaimed American acting coach Larry Moss. She continues to train in film and theatre, most notably with film director Alecksi Vellis and Theatre Director Iain Sinclair (MTC). Anna-Mai is adding more range to her work through training in Perderkamp Emotional Method (P.E.M). Anna-Mai has an earthy, friendly nature and a quirky sense of humour, all of which make her a generous performer and a pleasure to work with. Anna-Mai is a very professional and versatile actor whose strengths lie in the portrayal of strong female characters and offbeat personalities. While perfectly at home acting in drama, Anna-Mai also has a natural ability for comedy. She is perfect for the nurse, cop, reporter, the mean boss, the therapist or the down and out bikie mother from the suburbs. She best known for her role as ER Nurse in TV Mini-series Hungry Ghosts. Anna-Mai is a Remedial Massage Therapist and Teacher and a member of the natural health community. As a young person she worked for Television New Zealand as a Camera Operator.
