Jonathan Salazar is a New York-based actor and producer born and raised in Austin, TX. At an early age, with the inspiration of his late grandfather, who was a guitarist for Prince, began singing and playing guitar and violin to keep up with the music tradition. Through the help of school programs and intense training, Jonathan has performed over 300 times across Texas in community and professional music groups. Although Jonathan loved to perform musically, his truest passion was acting. By the time he got to high school, he finally made his acting debut, where, in just a few short years, he started acting in the community and professionally all across Texas. Being a "jack of all trades," he balanced playing in the orchestra as first-chair violinist, thespian officer, and varsity cheer captain while working part time and taking early college courses. After high school, Jonathan briefly attended Sul Ross State and Texas State University, where he studied to receive his BFA in acting. While in college, Salazar focused on studying Meisner, Chekhov, Stanislavski, and Spolin technique. While acting in school and professionally, Jonathan was inspired to move to New York to continue his education while growing more into his craft. While in New York, Jonathan has founded two different companies in theater, and film. Jonathan produced, assistant directed, and portrayed Chip Tolentino in 9 to 5 Productions' inaugural musical, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." At the same time, he founded Permanent Pictures, an emerging and growing film production company. Jonathan is the creator, co-writer, producer, and star of Permanent Pictures' first project, a TV series titled, "A Hot Mess."
