Mahsa Razavi

Mahsa Razavi is a film director, screenwriter, and producer from Iran and based in Toronto. She has made several fiction and documentary films that have been showcased in numerous countries across the world. Mahsa's short films A Celebration (2019), and Roj Means Sun (2016) has been shown on CBC, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Canada National Screen Institute, the Iranian Film Academy (Khaneh Cinema) Short Film Festival and used in school curricula in Canada and the US. Her latest work is a narrative short film entitled Ahu, which has been screened and nominated at the Iranian Short Film Association Awards, the Fajr Film Festival, and the Tehran International Short Film Festival. Mahsa's works often focus on female experience, issues of individual-community, migration narratives, loss, and belonging. She is a recipient of the Canada Art Council Award for Research and Creation (The River Will Carry Us, 2020), the Toronto Art Council Grant for Media Arts (Ahu, 2020), the Ontario Art Council Grant for Emerging Artists (Ahu, 2018), the Toronto Art Council Media Grant (A Celebration, 2017) and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (Roj Means Sun, 2014). She is a member of the Canadian Academy of Film and Television and the Women in Film and TV Toronto (WIFT).
