Monique TaChae Montgomery, known professionally as Monique TaChae is an American singer/songwriter and actress. Raised in Toledo, Ohio she started singing at the tender age of 3 and writing music by the time she was 11. Her mother wrote music and her father was a singer so she was well exposed to the culture of creative art and entertainment. Combination tunes of inspiration from Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Janet Jackson, Zapp and Roger and The Isley Brothers were introduced to her in the households of her early childhood. For her fourteenth birthday, her mother bought her the Brandy Full Moon album, what she credits was her "vocal bible" as a young teen. Heavily inspired, Monique began creating music that people could hear and feel. She would fill all of her school notebooks and binders with soul-written lyrics. Self-admittedly shy, she was never afraid to write what she felt or sing if she was asked to do so by her peers. She gained a passion for performance and theater. She attended Rogers high school where she landed roles in musicals such as "Footloose" and Whitney Houston's role of the Fairy God Mother in the Brandy version of "Cinderella". Consistent with challenging herself in taking the center stage, she voluntarily sang the National Anthem in front of the entire school her senior year during the Homecoming Coronation and she also shared an original song she wrote called "24" during a talent show that year, a song she wrote when she was sixteen. She was musically stimulated from the amount of good feedback she received from her peers who fell in love with that song. As her voice began to mature and evolve, she wanted to learn to sing with technique. She attended Central State University and joined the CSU Chorus where she learned various styles of music such as classical and jazz--what she believes also helped develop her sound today. Through her college years, she carried on with theater and obtained roles in musical stage plays like "Grease" and a student written Hip Hopera where she played the star role of an aspiring singer whose life spiraled downward due to the influence of drugs and the "fast lane". She also took on quite a few public speaking activities at Juvenile Detention Centers in the Dayton area where she mentored, shared her life story and sang for the children. All of these things pulled the singer out of her shell. She obtained three journalism internships as an undergraduate, balanced a book club, tutored students and was also an inducted member of Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society (XAE). She independently filmed a campus TV show and obtained a bachelors degree in Communications Journalism in December 2010... yet and still she was left with figuring out what to do once she arrived back to her hometown where there were very few job opportunities in the field of Journalism. As lengthy as her resume was, she never had the passion to work for anyone. She realized all she wanted to do was perform. Monique TaChae began using social media as a platform to network with other independent up-and-coming artists and musicians. She started booking gigs at weddings, funerals, clubs, open mics, and even nursing facilities for the holidays. She creatively began to make her own beats, produce and write more original music and she would also record and upload covers of songs to her audience of fans. As her local buzz began to grow, the singer was invited by artist J.Rashad, the CEO of AudioDream Records, to sing at an "SNL" event where she performed a cover of Andre 3000 "Prototype" and blew the audience away. She linked with the Independent label and released her first single 'Prove Me Wrong' in 2012. The songstress released her EP entitled 'Sci Fi' in Fall 2013. She performed the National Anthem in July 2014 at the Toledo Mudhens Stadium, she held a lead role through Prodigal Son Productions gospel musical stage play "Aint Too Proud to Beg" and cast in her first movie film "Not Another Black Movie" in 2016. With plans to tour in 2017, she will continue to promote her "Sci-Fi" EP and hit single "Touch Away". It's time the world got to know Monique TaChae.
