Pete Biagi is a working cinematographer and educator who primarily works in narrative and documentary films. Pete has shot 24 feature films, over 10 feature length documentaries and numerous short films. He has served as cinematographer on two feature films that were accepted into the Sundance Film festival - "Design" and "Stolen Summer". Recent feature films include "The Class" directed by Nick Celozzi and "Hope Springs Eternal" directed by Jack Newell. Recent documentary films he has contributed visuals to are "The Mask You Live In" by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, "Algren" by Michael Caplan and "No Small Matter" by Siskel, Jacobs and Alpert. Also, Pete operated camera on Robert Altman's last two films "The Company" and "A Prairie Home Companion". For over 10 years, Pete has taught cinematography courses at DePaul University - School of Cinematic Arts. He has helped form the cinematography curriculum based on his experience as both an artist and a union crew member (International Camera Guild Local 600/DP classification and former IATSE Local 476 Studio Mechanics). In constant updating, Pete accompanies his teaching work with research resulting in the course "Lighting: BIPOC" which examines attentive and considerate capture techniques for lighting people of color. As a union DP, Pete has filmed commercials for many past and current political candidates including Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams, Barack Obama, Val Demings, Lisa Blunt Rochester, Pete Buttigieg, Katie Hobbs and Bill Clinton. Pete is a maker crafts person who enjoys creating furniture and house decor in wood, glass, metal and textiles. And he is both a citizen of the US and Italy.
