Steve Brand is an Emmy Award-winning film and television producer whose feature documentary Kaddish, about growing up as the child of a Holocaust survivor, was selected for New Directors/New Films, won a Special Jury Award for Documentary at Sundance and was named one of the 10 Best Films of its year by David Edelstein in the Village Voice. The film's 4K Restoration had its World Premiere at the 2022 New York Jewish Film Festival. Steve has been a producer for Now on PBS, MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, ABC News' 20/20, Downtown and Primetime Live, Religion & Ethics Newsweekly and CBS News' Street Stories. His independent work has been shown theatrically throughout the United States and abroad, as well as on home and web video. A four time Emmy nominee, he is the recipient of two Cine Golden Eagles, two Angel Awards, two Gold Camera Awards from the U.S. International Film and Video Festival and a World Media Festival Award. He has received three grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He is currently (2023) producing Praying With My Legs, a feature documentary about the life, thought and transformative impact of religious thinker and human rights activist Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel.
