High-tension thrillers are second nature to Julie Herlocker's directing. Deeply involved in the creative process for 15 years as an episodic Post Producer, Julie understands how to shoot for VFX, she knows the rules of creating "other worlds" and how to keep an audience on edge. Her short film 7AM Wednesday is winning performance awards - no surprise as she's very comfortable working with actors, having directed ADR for more than 300 episodes of television. As a first-time director on NBC's GRIMM, she delivered her VFX-heavy episode "Breakfast in Bed" on schedule and on budget, receiving kudos for performances of both guest cast and series regulars. Selected as an emerging director for the DGA's 2019-2020 Mentorship Program within their Director Development Initiative, Julie continues to move toward success with her new horror short, "The House With No Lights." Drawn to character pieces with an edge, she's currently developing a high-tension dramedy feature, a short thriller and is also attached to direct the pilot for the series "Solanna", the story of a young woman's race against time to save her beloved horse from slaughter.
