"An actor should never be larger than the film he's in". He is a British actor who has starred in films of various genres, recognized for his versatility and physical transformations for his roles; he is one of the most important representatives of the "method" of his generation. He had his beginnings in the theater, but at the age of 13 he made his film debut in a Spielberg film, Empire of the Sun (1987) and during the following years he dedicated himself to acting in different films. It was in American Psycho (2000) when he began to transform himself physically, undergoing strict diets and exercise routines, and then losing weight in a shocking way for The Machinist (2004). He won the Oscar, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Fighter (2010) to critical and public acclaim. He also excelled in his portrayal of Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.
