Shawn Murphy, attended San Francisco State College (B.A., 1968, History) and Stanford University (M.F.A., 1972, Technical Theater Production and Lighting Design). Beginning in Theatrical Lighting and Sound and has worked extensively as a Technical Director and Theatrical Sound Designer (American Conservatory Theater, San Francisco, Oregon Shakespearean Festival, Ashland). His work also includes Radio (KKHI, KFRC, San Francisco) and Television (CBS Television Network, Hollywood.) As a free-lance mixer and audio supervisor his work includes the Academy Awards, Boston Pops Television Series (PBS), Great Performances (PBS), and the original audio design and installation at NBC Saturday Night (Saturday Night Live (1975)). He has recently worked as a consultant and mixer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Music Festival and the Hollywood Bowl. Mr. Murphy has been involved in design and consultation of facilities for McGill University, Todd-AO, Sony Scoring, among others. Involved in Film Score Recording, Film Rerecording and Event Technical Supervision, Mr. Murphy has worked on over 300 feature films. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards, winning in 1993 for Jurassic Park (1993).
