Thomas Acda became popular with a large Dutch audience through his cooperation with Paul de Munnik. As Acda & De Munnik they toured for 20 years with a repertoire of their own melodious and touching songs. After they split up, Thomas branched out into various disciplines: acting in tv, film and musical, writing, and directing a tv and a feature film. His ambitions aren't limited to the Netherlands. Whenever his schedule permits it, he travels to his hide out in Los Angeles to write and record. Thomas Acda was born and raised in De Rijp, a small town in the province of North Holland. After high school he attended the Theatre Academy in Amsterdam for a while, switching soon to the Academy of Performing Arts, studying cabaret and musical. It was there where he met Paul de Munnik. They graduated together in 1993 with the show Spectacle Coupé. Their first cd Acda & De Munnik was in the Top 100 album charts for more than 100 weeks. Thomas frequently appeared in tv-series. He wrote columns for the newspaper Het Parool. He performed with the bands Herman en Ik and De Poema's. In 1995 Acda & De Munnik wrote and produced the musical Zwerf'On. On March 30 2015 they played their last show together in a packed Carré. In total they performed hundreds of shows and produced 15 cd's with original songs. Thomas and Paul were entitled Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau, a honorary knighthood. From 1997 on Thomas starred in several feature films. In 2017 he played Tevye on stage in Fiddler on the Roof, which earned him the Musical Award for best male lead in a major musical. In 2016 Thomas directed his first films, the telefilm Fake and his first feature film Oh Baby. He wrote his first novel in 2016, entitled Onderweg met Roadie (publisher Lebowski). His second novel will be published in 2019. In 2019 Thomas will be touring The Netherlands with his solo theater show Motel.
