Kays Al-Atrakchi's musical career as a highly regarded composer spans over a decade of extensive work on award winning films, commercials, and television series. Kays' traditional roots coupled with an urban-savvy attitude have given his own music unique qualities of color and texture. His diverse musical background includes composing for theatre and dance, studies in world music, orchestral and concert writing, techno electronica, jazz, and new age. Kays has merged his extensive technical knowledge of sound and music with his eclectic training in composing, often blending musicians with electronics in visionary and innovative ways. Born in Florence, Italy; Kays grew up in the fulcrum of European arts and culture. As the son of an architect and an artist, he received an early exposure to classical music in the works of Verdi and Puccini. At seventeen Kays moved to Boston where he enrolled in the prestigious Berklee College of Music to further his studies. It was at Berklee that he discovered his passion for film music which led him to focus his studies on underscoring, orchestration and conducting. Upon graduation, Kays moved to Orlando where he soon met and joined forces with K.C. Ladnier and his emerging company, Sound "O" Rama. Kays' film scores include the action features Extreme Force and Falkland Man as well as the award winning documentary Imperatriz do Carnaval. His television work includes scores for Sci-Fi Channel¹s Curse of the Blair Witch, Odyssey Network¹s Donna's Day and PBS' Dooley and Pals. His work can also be heard in attractions such as Universal Studios Escape, Universal Studios Hollywood, Silver Dollar City and Sony Wonder in NY.
