Azarola

José Azarola was born in Zumaia, in the province of Guipuzcoa, on November 19, 1906. He studied at the Conservatory of Madrid and around the thirties he set up his own jazz orchestra. Unfortunately, no recordings by Azarola are kept before the Spanish Civil War. It seems that the early 78s that he recorded are in the early 40's, when the Spanish music industry begins to recover from the damage caused by the war. His career is triggered thereafter, he composed soundtracks, appearing in films like 'Un enredo de familia' ('A tangle of family', Ignacio F. Iquino, 1943), and finally settled in Mexico in the 50s, in whose capital city he died at fifty years old.
