Eric Avilés is a NYC-based actor, writer, producer, and teaching artist with extensive experience in the industry. As a veteran actor, he has performed nationally at numerous theaters, including El Teatro Campesino, Steppenwolf, Goodman, Teatro Vista, and INTAR. Eric is known for his outstanding portrayals of characters that examine the Latino experience in the United States. In addition to his acting work, Eric has directed and written several short independent films for the Video Mixtape Vol. 1: Art of The Possible, a self-produced project with his organization, Liberation Arts Collective. Other accomplishments include Eric receiving the 2018 New York Innovative Theater Award for "Outstanding Original Full Length Script" and being a nominee for "Outstanding Solo Performance" for his solo play, "Where You From? What You Be About?" Eric's storytelling prowess highlights his artistic versatility across multiple mediums. Eric is a dedicated community-based artist who has been working with youth and adults for over 20 years, using theater as a tool to create original and culturally meaningful works. He has directed and produced these works in schools, community centers, and prisons, using a collaborative and devising approach.
