Jean - Paul Dekiss was born on October 30, 1946 in Friedrichshafen. His parents are Hungarian origin. He graduated in 1968 Institut des hautes études cinématographiques. He became a screenwriter and director of short films (1975 - 1994). Two of them were presented on international festivals: Les Murs d'une révolution (Leipzig, Cracow ; Best Documentary Film nomination for César Award) and Parking (Cannes). Afterwards he organized the production company 47ème parallèle (1995-2002) and has produced several movies, among them: Dieu n'existe pas (official selection, Berlin, 1994), The Black Swallow, directed by Georgi Djulgerov (Young European Jury Award at Mons International Festival of Love Films, 1999), and Les Garçons Witman (official selection, Cannes, 1997).
