Bill Dobbins

A working actor in New York City, excelling in both comedic and dramatic roles, William has a diverse training background. Born and raised in Virginia outside of Washington, D.C., he graduated with a distinguished degree from Penn State University's BFA Acting Program, while studying alongside graduate students in a conservatory-style training in Acting, Movement and Voice. He also completed a graduate-level summer study abroad program associated with the University of London, for six weeks in London, England, where he also took classes with The Royal Shakespeare Company. Living in New York City has provided a wealth of acting training, including a year with legendary teacher, Wynn Handman, classes with Jeb Diamond of Stella Adler Studios, and improvisational classes with The Magnet Theatre and the former Second City (New York location). He has worked professionally at The Utah Shakespearean Festival and two seasons with The Orlando Shakespeare Festival. Regionally, he has received strong reviews performing such diverse leading roles as explorer Meriwether Lewis in "Grinder's Stand" in Catskill, N.Y., the Beast/Prince in "Beauty & the Beast" at Plays & Players Theatre in Philadelphia, and Brother Boy, the transvestite drag queen obsessed with Tammy Wynette and wrongfully committed to a mental institution in "Sordid Lives", at The Rising Action Theatre in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In New York City, he has appeared in lead roles at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Theater for the New City and The White Horse Theater Company. In film and television, he played Guidance Officer Steve Bales in the television series, "Days That Shook the World", narrated by Sir Ian Holm for the BBC. He was Mark in the independent film, "Beyond the Pale" with Malachy McCort, produced by Maiden Voyage Pictures. And he received the Best Actor award at the University of Miami Film Festival for his role as Grizz in the short film, "Halfway Home".
