Debra Eisenstadt is an American writer, director, producer, and editor. She began her career as an actress, most notably starring in the theater and film versions of David Mamet's Oleanna. Eisenstadt continued acting on and off Broadway and for film and television until she was awarded an (MFA) scholarship to film school for her short, The Guest. She wrote, produced, directed, shot and edited the feature film Daydream Believer; winner of The Independent Spirit Award "Someone To Watch" and The Grand Jury Prize at The Slamdance Film Festival. Similarly, she wrote, produced, directed & edited the award-winning films The Limbo Room (with Melissa Leo, Peter Dinklage) and Before The Sun Explodes, which premiered in competition at SXSW (2016). Eisenstadt has written and directed for Nickelodeon, works as a script doctor, a teacher and is a long time collaborator with her husband, filmmaker Brett Morgen. She executive produced Morgen's acclaimed and award-winning documentaries, Kurt Cobain; Montage Of Heck and Jane.
