Bill Elliott is known in NASCAR as "Million Dollar Bill" for winning the Winston Million at Darlington Raceway in 1985. In 1983, Bill's first win came at the defunct Riverside International Raceway in Riverside, California (RIR gave Ricky Rudd and Tim Richmond first career wins there). At the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama, Bill Elliott set a track record of 212.809 mph and it still stands to this day. After a long drought from being away from Victory Lane, Bill came back in 2001 to win at the Homestead-Miami Speedway and in 2002 won at the Pocono Raceway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Today, Bill is still driving the #9 car, but the famous #9 is a dodge and he is driving for Evernham Motorsports. In 2001, after 7 years of not seeing victory Lane, he and the #9 Dodge won at Homestead-Miami Speedway and came back in 2002 and won at Pocono Raceway (Pennsylvania 500) and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Brickyard 400).
