Rob was born in Brisbane, Australia in 1965. Prior to his television career, he had worked in radio for 14 years. After leaving school, Rob moved to rural Queensland to work in radio. This valuable experience pre-empted a career in radio, with Rob presenting various shows on the Triple M radio network in Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. In 1990, he moved to Melbourne to present Triple M's drive show, and took the program to the No. 1 spot. In 1987, Rob scored his first job in Television as host of The OK Show, a Saturday morning cartoon and music show in Queensland. A year later he moved to Melbourne to become the State reporter for the childrens educational program Wombat. Rob then hosted the variety show, Talking Telephone Numbers, on Australia's Seven Network in early 1996, which he has said was "a big stepping stone" in regards to his position with Seven. Rob was thrilled to be chosen as the host for Wheel Of Fortune and has now made Melbourne his home and commutes to Sydney for the recording.
