Karin Chien is a four-time Independent Spirit Award nominee, the recipient of the Independent Spirit Producer's Award and the Cinereach Producing Fellowship, and the producer of ten independent feature films, including Stones In The Sun (2012), Jack And Diane (2012), Circumstance (2011), The Exploding Girl (2009), The Motel (2005) And Robot Stories (2002). Her films have won over 100 festival awards, premiered at the Sundance and Berlin Films Festivals, and received distribution in over 30 countries. Chien has also produced museum exhibitions and interactive apps. Karin co-founded and runs i love 2, a global production service company with shoots in 2018 in UK, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, China. Karin is the founder/president of dGenerate Films, the leading distributor of 70+ independent cinema from mainland China. Karin is also a co-creator of Cinema on the Edge, a screening series celebrating the best of Chinese independent film festivals. Karin is the creator/director of the Nevada City Film Festival Residency, created to support Native and Asian American filmmakers. Karin has consulted and taught for: Sundance Film Institute, Film Independent, New York Times, ITVS, Cinereach, Tribeca Film Institute, Center for Asian American Media, UnionDocs, Loyola Marymount University, Temple University, School of Visual Arts.
