Tony Clarkin is an actor born in Limerick City on November 3rd 1952. He performed as a child actor in various theatre productions and was a member of The Abbey Theatre School of Acting Dublin and performed in a production of "Romeo and Juliet" at The Gate Theatre Dublin, produced and directed by theatre legends Hilton Edwards and Michael MacLiammoir. Clarkin has a unique range of skills. He has a robust resume for his theatre work playing many roles from Bill Sikes in "Oliver!", King Henry V111 in "A Man For All Seasons" to Burke in "The Doctor and the Devils", Estragon in "Waiting for Godot", Prince Escalus in "Romeo and Juliet", King Henry 11 in "Becket", Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol", Professor Hurst in "The Artisans Angel", Macbeth in "Macbeth",Roat in "Wait Until Dark", Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet",Hamlet in "Hamlet", Becket in "Murder in the Cathedral", Scrooge in "Scrooge"(Musical),Polonius in "Hamlet", Marcellus in "Hamlet", Athos in "The Three Musketeers",First Voice Narrator in "Under Milkwood", Long John Silver in "The Secrets of Treasure Island", Salerio in "The Merchant of Venice", and many more. Clarkin has appeared in many classic and well known films television and radio drama. He has a vast range of accents and a resonant and most characterful voice with depth and gravitas. Clarkin voiced numerous well known television radio and film commercials including "Will and Mary""Red Bull", "Ennio Morricone", "John West Salmon", "Guinness", "Britvic AME", "Murphys Beer","Jays Bathrooms", "Dolland and Aithison","Boudica" "Ryan Air" "The Lion King"and numerous others. Clarkin voiced many cartoons, including the Cyclops in "Odysseus","Global Bears Rescue" for Poseidon Films. He has voiced historical and modern narrations for television and cinema including "The Gilbert Collection" at Somerset House London which ran for many years to thousands of visitors. Tony Clarkin is the voice over for "Puffs Tissues" commercials for Publicis New York which ran for 10 years, a poetry based animation television campaign which won many awards and much recognition in the US and Canada. Clarkin is the voice of Richard Francis Burton the Victorian Explorer for the Channel 4 Documentary "Source of the White Nile" from the television series "To the Ends of the Earth". He has voiced many characters in the BBC documentary series "Blood of the Vikings". and narrated the story of the "London Symphony Orchestra and their move from the Barbican to the renovated church of St.Luke to a recording studio" a BBC 4 documentary. He narrated the story of golf, "Past Masters Golf Champions", "Visas for Love" for Poseidon Films. Clarkin voices audio description for the blind for many television dramas and feature films.
