Born in Montreal, Canada in 1961, Deano Clavet had always wanted to be an actor but took the unconventional role to onscreen fame. A high school dropout at 19. Deano was inspired by an article about French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo that said Belmondo had been a boxer as a young man. Deano was immediately taken with the idea and knew he possessed the determination and athletic ability required to make a name for himself in the sport. He began as an amateur, fighting 10 times and winning the Golden Gloves in Montreal in 1980. Two years later, he turned pro and fought his way through the ranks as a middleweight, eventually getting a title shot against Alex Hilton in 1984. In all, he fought 20 times before retiring in 1990. Throughout his boxing career, however, Deano held on to his dreams of acting and began taking drama classes and earning parts in local plays, making his debut in 1986's Les Voisins. From there, he continued to impress directors and casting agents, getting his break in television by playing Jimmy Fontaine in Scoop in 1991. Since then, his CV reads like a virtual encyclopedia of Montreal's most notable productions. Deano acted in Omerta: The Law of Silence on the small screen, and has also appeared in such major Hollywood films as Snake Eyes, The Whole Nine Yards, Head in the Clouds and Mesrine in France. Just as he kept his love of acting during his boxing career, the inverse is now true and Deano Clavet the Actor has been running his gym since 1996. Recently moved to Carrefour Multisports in Laval, Quebec. He also serves as a technical consultant on movie sets, even working as the personal trainer to Sir Anthony Hopkins during the Montreal shoot of The Human Stain. Though Deano often plays tough characters, he's known across Quebec as a genuinely nice guy who can talk his way into and out of any situation. Deano says his strength is his ability to create opportunities out of nothing, having learned the skill early as a kid who grew up in working class and with the love and support of two great parents.
