Born on May 11, 1917 in San Francisco California, Theo was the third of four siblings. Her father was Alexander Kallimanis of Kalavryta Greece and her mother Nell Kernan Kallimanis of San Francisco. She worked as a fashion model in the bay area until 1941 when a chance meeting with an Los Angeles oil baron (and the ensuing 17 year relationship) would change her life dramatically. While pursuing her fledgling acting career, she joined the USO for the duration of the war and was represented by Max Hoffman in both Los Angeles and New York. She studied acting with Eugenie Leontovich and was a member of The Actor's Company of Southern California. She always felt that her deep, husky voice which stage directors loved, kept her from more film parts. Sadly Parachute Nurse is her only screen appearance. After the passing of the love of her life in 1958 (the aforementioned oil baron), she married Bill King, and antiquarian book dealer in Beverly Hills. Upon his passing in 1968, she lived in San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, San Diego and Pebble Beach until her passing at age 93. She was a force of nature that those of us who knew her will never forget. Her stories of the wild side of Hollywood in the 40s and 50s are safe with me . . .
