William was born to Yvonne and Darwin Matteson in Elgin, Illinois on February 18, 1947. A few months later his father (a pilot) was killed in a plane crash. His mother later remarried Roger Cone, who adopted William and hence changed his name. As a child William taught himself to play the guitar and was in several bands throughout his life. After retiring from the music business, he went to college and eventually became a successful psychologist. He has made several television appearances as a specialist in alien abductions. He is also the author of several books including The Abduction Enigma and Stop Memory loss. Today William can be found touring the country as a guest speaker for several different corporations. He has three children: Korelan, Ian and Robin.
