Film director and screenwriter, granddaughter of renowned film director Francis Ford Coppola, and niece of director and screenwriter Sofia Coppola. She studied photography at Bard College in New York, but film became her medium of interest after a few years and after getting tired of photography. She made her directorial debut with the film Palo Alto (2013), an adaptation of James Franco's short story collection of the same name. The film premiered in the Orizzonti section of the 70th Venice International Film Festival, as well as at the 38th Toronto International Film Festival and the Telluride Film Festival (Colorado). In 2020 he released Mainstream, a dramatic comedy starring Andrew Garfield, Maya Hawke, Nat Wolff, Johnny Knoxville, and Jason Schwartzman, which received unfavorable reviews.
