At No time was Sherwood Cryer ever an actor. He began his work career in the chemical plants of Pasadena, a suburb of Houston. At one time he worked as my dad's helper in a chemical plant. But he was an entrepreneur at heart. He began to buy liquor stores at Pasadena's city limits. Pasadena was "dry", meaning you could not buy alcohol within the city limits. Cryer took advantage of this and, as the saying goes, the rest is history. Cryer was well known to not tolerating disagreement and took many a poor soul "out behind the barn" for a serious round of fisticuffs.
