Don Gough has been studying various forms of Martial Arts since 1979 including ITF and WTF Taekwondo, several styles of Karate, Kung Fu, Kendo, Capoeira, Aiki Jujitsu and Kapap. Don has been competing and teaching since 1982, his competition titles include national and regional championship standings. He presently holds a 6th degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, 5th degree Black Belt in Goshin Kan Jitsu, 4th degree in Chito Ryu Karate, 1st degree in Kempo Karate, 1st degree in ITF Taekwondo and a Level 3 Kapap Instructor. His teaching experience extends beyond traditional Martial Arts in the areas of acrobatics, gymnastics and self-defense; emerging from the latter his own company, The Road to Safety Self-Defense, specializing in instruction for women, children, the physically impaired and personal security. In addition Don is the founder and Chief Instructor of Kapap.ca. Don's talents have also been showcased in a wide array of venues from circus, theatre and live performance, club circuit shows, music videos, commercials, television and film. As a circus performer his main focuses have been fire performance (eating, spinning, and breathing) and stilt walking. Additionally, Don has been working in film, television and theatre since he was 7 years old and has acquired numerous film credits as a professional stunt performer and actor. Stunt performance and film work is his main focus and highlight.
