January 22, 2023 Heather Reid (Previously Known as Heather Grody) is a composer/ lyricist performer and actress. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC and she also attended the Royal Academy's summer Shakespeare program during her theatrical education. Heather's first band, The Murmurs was signed to MCA Records and released songs that topped the U.S. alternative charts, hit the U.S. Billboard top 100 charts and received a Platinum certification in Norway along with charting at #1. The band also came in at the top 20 in Australia. The Murmurs toured with bands like Bush, Joe Jackson and Adam Ant. They were also part of Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair and had the honor of working with legends such as K.D. Lang , Larry Klein as well as Matthew Wilder to name a few. During that time they wrote the pop hit "Smash" with Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin which was featured on the "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" soundtrack and it hit the billboard charts. After a decade of harmonies, Heather and her band-mate Leisha Hailey decided to re-invent themselves and became the band GUSH. They were granted a residency at the landmark LA venue Spaceland and were signed to a development deal by Gary Gersh, of Nirvana A&R fame, on his Strummer Recordings label. Eventually Heather decided to pursue her lifelong passion in musical theater. She wrote the music, book and lyrics to a new musical called "Dear Bernard" that premiered to sold-out houses in Los Angeles at The Court and Zephyr theaters. It was a local hit! "Dear Bernard" was noticed by the Theatre community in London and was invited to debut at the Riverside Studios. Although the funds to tour internationally were not raised in time to pursue the opportunity, the buzz of "Dear Bernard" in Hollywood and it's memorable, hummable songs captured the attention of Chrysalis Music Publishing, and Heather began a new chapter as a professional songwriter for others. Included in Heather's song writing credits is the song "Don't Bother" on Shakira's platinum selling album. But the rock n' roll life was still calling Heather, and she re-united with Jon Skibic of the Afghan Whigs to form Redcar. The two wrote a catalog of new music and brought in musicians Ryan MacMillan (Push Stars) & Michael Eisenstein (Letters To Cleo) to round out the band. Greg Collins produced Redcar's album "Can't Be Stopped". The band performed in venues across the country, and Redcar was chosen as a Yahoo! Music's "Critical Eye Artist" and featured at LA's Amoeba records as a favorite Homegrown artist. Heather's next release was a solo effort entitled "Cross Words". The album was received with rave reviews by LA Magazine, USA Today, Ellen and more. Her new single "Right Here Right Now" was released in 2020 and is available on iTunes and most media. While this lady loves to perform live (and always will), Heather has taken a more behind-the-scenes role recently, focusing on studio work and composing for film, TV, commercials and her lifelong passion, musical theater. Recent compositions have included the score for the critically acclaimed indie documentary called "The If Project", commercials for Bobbi Brown, Christies, Old Navy and the Phase One Foundation for Cancer Research presentation. Heather has two new musicals both in development. "Tinseltown Tiptoe" Music and Lyrics by Heather Reid Book by Nicholas Coster Produced by Christine Russell. Directed by Spencer Liff.
