David Grieco was born in Rome in 1951. Just sixteen, he was chosen by Franco Zeffirelli for a part in "Romeo and Juliet", by Pier Paolo Pasolini for "Teorema", by Bernardo Bertolucci for "Partner" and many others. At seventeen, he became an assistant director for Pasolini, Bertolucci and others. At nineteen, he became a journalist for the italian newspaper "l'Unità" as film and music critic and foreign correspondent. In his early thirties, he went back to film industry as a scriptwriter writing "Sogni e bisogni", "Caruso Pascoski", "Mortacci", "I magi randagi", and other scripts. At the same time he became executive producer for "Angela come te", "Mortacci" and "Clown in Kabul". In his early forties, he wrote a few books: "Il comunista che mangiava i bambini", "Fuori il regista", "Parla Greganti", "Funari è Funari" whilst directing commercials (Birra Peroni and others). He also began his radio and TV work as author and host in many radio and television programs he invented: "Hollywood Party" and "Radio City Cafe" for RAI and "Il Giornale del Cinema" for Tele+. For Tele+ and Canal+, he has made more than 100 documentaries on film directors and movie stars (among these: Clint Eastwood, John Woo, Robin Williams, Rod Steiger, Liv Ullmann, Spike Lee, Philippe Noiret, Elliott Gould, Daniel Auteuil, David Lynch, Jean Jacques Annaud, Ettore Scola, Mario Monicelli, etc.). In his early fifties, he wrote, directed and produced his first feature film, "Evilenko", based on his novel "Il comunista che mangiava i bambini" and starring Malcolm McDowell, Marton Csokas, Frances Barber and Ronald Pickup. "Evilenko" has been released worldwide (US and China included). "Evilenko" has won 18 prizes in many festivals all over the world, included the International Silver Reel in Italy, the Golden Placido for best film in Manresa (Barcelona) and the Golden Reel Award for best director in Tiburon (San Francisco). Recently, he has made a long length documentary in Russia called "The fake fairy tale" for RAI and he directed the campaign "True to life" for Discovery Channel. He is author of the memory of the first trial for Pier Paolo Pasolini's murder.
