Ron Hamill grew up in Massachusetts and in the early '70s worked at a few nightclubs and theaters in Boston learning stage lighting skills and then getting to work at the famed Charles Playhouse. For a while he worked as an intern at "WBZ TV" 4 Boston, building and painting sets. After moving to Los Angeles in the summer of 1975 he took on various jobs until 1977 when he got a job as an assistant manager of "The Chinese Theatre" in Hollywood during the entire run of "Star Wars". He decided to move on after Star Wars closed getting a job as Tech Director for the "Studio One Backlot Theatre" in West Hollywood. He designed lighting and sound for many of the club acts of the time that played the room. After working at the Backlot with the Wayland and Madame Show he was asked to "go on the road" with the show for several years from 1985 to 1988. In 1988 he became a freelance videographer and started Ron Hamill Productions which produced "Christmas Carolers Just for You" that aired in the Los Angeles area and was distributed nationwide. He also shot many industrial, educational and instructional videos as well as a few direct to tape movies. He also shot some nightclub and theatrical performances. Being a fan of the TV show, Lost in Space he decided to tackle building a copy of the Robot from the show. He finished his robot in 1993 with the help of the original operator of the robot on the show along with the new owner of the original robot. He ended up detailing the original robot and a duplicate robot suit they had built to do public appearances. In the '90's he worked on the specials The Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen and Lost in Space. One of the highlights of the whole robot gig was performing inside the robot suit for a segment of E!'s Talk Soup. Ron had been interested in Titanic since the early '60's so when the film Titanic was released he visited the set and acquired some set pieces and props and restored them. Between 2007 and 2012 he built and managed a small boutique stage/ studio in North Hollywood. Around 2017 Ron created his YouTube Channel "RonOnLocation" and created several short documentaries for content one being about his fascination with Titanic and some retrospective videos for the TV shows MASH and Bonanza which received over 500K views.
