“I have always tried to film reality as it is, lucidly, but trying to make it beautiful. In my eyes, the film image lends itself better to these efforts. Beyond the material sense, what I also prefer about 35mm is the movement, the succession of images proper to film, which perhaps better translates my relationship with time.” As a teenager she took acting classes and landed her first film role at the age of 16. After her acting debut, she participated in a series of short films, began writing for Cahiers du Cinéma magazine and worked as an assistant director and screenwriter. In 2007, she premiered her debut feature, Tout est pardonné, at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes, which earned her international recognition and inaugurated a filmography marked by a common theme and style inspired by aspects of her personal life and surroundings. As for the aesthetic work of her films, there is a search for beauty and luminosity, even in the most mundane situations, Hansen-Løve's films stand out for their careful and harmonious compositions.
