In his native South Africa, Antony became a filmmaker and journalist for International Press Syndicates AP and BBC, documenting the anti-apartheid uprisings in the embattled townships around Cape Town. Fascinated by the violent human drama unfolding before him, Antony developed a raw, unaffected visual storytelling style that has since come to define him He moved to the US and studied at the prestigious American Film Institute school in Los Angeles, renowned for kick starting many esteemed filmmakers careers, he proved a quick study and soon after embarked on a career as a commercial director. He has had a prolific career shooting award winning commercials and web campaigns across the globe. He won major advertising awards at Cannes Lion, Gold and Silver lions several times. The London Film Festival and the NY Clio Awards and ADDY awards. Renowned for his bold visual style the iconic Super Bowl commercial "Clydesdales" for Budweiser earning him his first Gold Lion at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, "Clydesdales" is now part of a permanent collection at the New York Museum of Modern Art. Some of his recent works, Fiat's X "blue bill' debuting on the annual Super Bowl has been met with similar acclaim, followed by awards in the Europe and the US. A bold mix of action storytelling with a distinct cinematic flair has been his calling card, Multi national clients entrusting him to evoke strong performances from actors the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Idris Elba, Dougray Scott, William Levy, David Beckham, Patrick Dempsey as well as some of the the biggest stars in Asia, Tony Leung, Edddie Peng, Fan Bing Bing, Karen Mok, Lin Chi Ling to name a few. Frequently collaborating with athletes, Formula one world champions as well as international campaigns with soccer stars for the world cup both in 2014 and 2018. A genuine ad veteran he has evolved into a true hybrid director/cameraman as well as creative concept partner with clients, Mercedes Benz, Adidas, Heineken and recently Vodafone's have worked directly with him form the inception of the campaign, creating content, as the ad business has evolved he has too as a director, a dexterous Swiss army knife of sorts. Having crafted many of these campaigns directly with clients, he has been at the forefront of digital age filmmaking content and long form storytelling. In addition, he was a Pioneer working in China over the last eight years, leading the charge of foreign directors working abroad, having build a solid collaborative relationship with all the major car manufactures from Porsche, Cadillac, Lexus, Peugeot, BMW,, Volvo to Ferrari, the most prolific and sought after directors in the China Advertising Market and has just been featured in the latest issue of Shots vol 24, focusing on Advertising in China. Previous to that he completed San Pellegrino's Global launch, Lamborghini's " Huracan" three minute action web film for the for the Geneva auto show, a Toyota Avalon Web Series short film starring well, known British actor Idris Elba, in 2017, working with Heineken world wide and shooting in South Africa, he directed the first pan Africa campaign with hip hop star, Jidenna followed by the Heineken campaign with Jordan Clarkson of the Lakers in Los Angeles. Next up was Vodafone brand campaign with ace driver/actor Patrick Dempsey driving a Porsche GT 3, with the windows totally blocked out, using 4.5G phones as his only driving aid. He's presently working on an ambitious feature film that he wrote and with direct for 20 Century Fox, 'Fox Hunt' that will shoot in Hong Kong and Los Angeles, in addition a ten part series 'The Keepers' set in the world of illegal animal poaching across the globe.
