Jo Ho is a self-taught, award-winning British Born Chinese screenwriter, director, author, and script consultant who was named Winner of the Women In Film and Television's 'New Talent' Award (2010). In the same week, she was also nominated for The CDN's 'Best Breakthrough Production Talent' Award, with her TV series, Spirit Warriors also in the running for 'Best Children's Programme' at the 2011 Broadcast Awards. In 2009, she was named one of the Top Ten Outstanding Young Chinese People in the UK, and presented with the Big Ben Award for her 'Outstanding Achievement by a Chinese Woman in the UK Film and Television Industry'. She has been selected for international development schemes including Pygmalion (Pal Labs) and was sponsored by AMPAS (Oscars), NFTS and Film Council on a trip to LA, as one of UK's top upcoming talents. 2010 saw Jo gaining her first broadcast credit when she created and wrote Spirit Warriors, an ambitious and cutting edge fantasy drama that was also the UK's first television series to star a predominately East Asian cast. As well as her film and television work, Jo also began writing books in 2016 with her debut YA novel Wanted, book 1 of the Chase Ryder series, going on to win the top YA Sci-Fi award at the Readers' Favorite International Book Awards 2018. The book went on to become a number 1 bestseller on Amazon US in over 15 YA categories. Jo is the first East Asian person in the UK to have created a television drama series.
