They were the parents of the actors Philip Holmes and Ralph Holmes and of a daughter, Madeleine. His wife and two sons died before he finally shuffled off this mortal coil on September 30, 1959, at the age of 81. He was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
