Jean Franzblau

Though she didn't realize it at the time, Jean Franzblau (she/her) was training to be an intimacy professional years before the position existed. Her background includes acting, casting, production, sex education, and dance. She's the Founder of Cuddle Sanctuary, an organization that has provided education about consent, boundaries, and touch since 2014. Jean has been working as an intimacy professional in Los Angeles since 2019. Her credits include Blonde (Netflix), Invasion (Apple TV+), Deep Water (New Regency) directed by Adrian Lyne, CSI: Vegas (NBC), and Old (Blinding Edge Productions) directed by M. Night Shyamalan. She has worked as a corporate consultant and has been hired to help people communicate more effectively in organizations including Stanford University, Wells Fargo, and the US Marine Corps. Jean graduated cum laude from UCLA with a degree in communications. As an Intimacy Coordinator, Jean is certified with Intimacy Professionals Association and was trained by Founder, Amanda Blumenthal. Her training as an Intimacy Director was with Rachel Flesher whose credits include Goodman Theatre, Shakespeare Dallas, Writers Theatre, and Steppenwolf Theatre. Jean is on the Advisory Board of the nonprofit, Sex Positive World, and supports safe work environments for all. This includes those in marginalized groups related to gender, sexual expression, and ability, and a commitment to anti-racism. Jean has experience working on a video game and unscripted content, as well as knowledge about polyamory and BDSM. For productions that have never worked with an intimacy professional, Jean is happy to be the first. Given that the job is relatively new, she understands that it can take time to build trust and rapport. She is a skilled facilitator with a deep respect for storytelling.
